Armature Winding & Electrical Fitter Apprentice


Due to continued growth, we are now seeking an Apprentice to join the team within the Swansea Business Unit.

Key Responsibilities & Accountability

The activities undertaken by our Armature Winding & Electrical Fitting departments are both diverse and challenging as they cover all aspects of the repair & refurbishment of machines which are often highly complex.

Responsibilities and Duties may include:

  • The role will offer the individual to get involved in all aspects of Electro-mechanical service, maintenance & repair of equipment within the rotating machines industry.  Which you will gain experience and find your place.
  • Work safely, with regard for your duty of care to yourself and to others who may be affected by your work
  • Always adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Keep others informed of information that contributes to the performance of the team, department, or company.
  • Work with Gower College external assessor to produce workplace assessment training plans.
  • Attend lectures, practical workshops, and visits as per training provider learning plan.

 

Your key responsibilities and accountability on completion of your apprenticeship may include:

  • Electro-mechanical repairs, service, and overhaul of AC/ DC equipment
  • Rewinding electrical motors and generators
  • Testing of Rotating machines
  • Site service support
  • Condition monitoring services
  • Ex Inspections
  • Laser Alignments

 

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes

By joining Quartzelec you will become part of a team, with the potential to become part of a truly nationwide service provider.

This qualification is a National Vocational qualification (NVQ). It involves the skills and knowledge needed to do the job, ability to organise work and identify and prevent problems. This is based on National Occupational Standards, which you must meet to be competent in a particular task.

Apprenticeship candidates will normally have attained 3 to 5 GCSEs at grades A to C (including mathematics, English, and a science), or equivalent qualifications.

The successful candidate will be required to commit to a 4-year apprenticeship with Quartzelec starting in June 2024.

The apprenticeship which will include day release study at Gower College, Tycoch Campus, Swansea.

The following qualifications are attained through this apprenticeship: 

  • Level 2 – Performing Engineering Operations (PEO2)
  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering
