This is a full-time role located in Rugby for a Laser Programmer / Estimator. To take ownership and responsibility for the delivery of projects to internal and external customers. Develop new and existing business opportunities, generate quotes and follow up with clients Driving high standards of work and continuous improvement in process and quality.
Key Responsibilities & Accountability
Your key responsibilities and accountability on completion of your apprenticeship is:
- Initiating project start up procedures, including order acknowledgment and design review
- Ensuring project materials and tooling are ordered to timescale and budget
- Setting up and maintaining contract files and processing customer drawing requirements
- Preparing CAD geometries, nestings and programs through Laser CAD system
- Interpret drawings which will produce a Laser cutting program
- Ensure Geometries are accurate according to drawings and procedures
- Ensuring completed products are fully compliant and all documentation is correctly completed before shipment
- Ensure high quality products are produced to customer’s instructions by following our quality systems and procedures
- Liaise with Laser Operations Manager & Works Manager to ensure effective delivery of projects
- Deputising for Laser Operations Manager including the overseeing H&S standards are followed and maintained
Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes
- A knowledge of programming lasers with a laser cutting background is essential Demonstrable experience in reading, issuing engineering drawings and work instructions
- A knowledge of Sheet Metal & fabrication would be an advantage
- CMM experience would be an advantage
- Experience with TruTops/SolidWorks is desirable
- An understanding of measurement skills with a minimum of GCSE level or equivalent in English and Mathematics
- Competent in Word and Excel
