Background

Quartzelec had the opportunity to work with an integrated subsea service provider, operating in the oil, gas and renewables sector providing survey, inspection, maintenance and repair solutions for subsea infrastructures and assets.

The client was carrying out a mobilisation of an offshore supply ship ensuring necessary on-deck equipment is installed on the vessel ready for the project ahead. Previous experience of working with the client, having provided the highest of customer service - Quartzelec were once again asked to assist with the onboard electrical requirements.

The Project

Quartzelec’s scope was to provide electrical support for the equipment installed onboard.

The main objective; to supply, install and commission:

  • Diving support / A frames for lowering baskets and divers
  • High pressure hydraulic packages
  • Control voltages for all containers

The following electrical services were also performed:

  • Running supplies
  • Connecting power
  • Testing
  • Procurement
  • Investigative works

During the installation last minute sourcing of parts including cables, crimps, breakers and power connectors was necessary to run cables for deck equipment for the main power supplies and connecting into the vessels supplies.

Time was a significant factor as completion before the “set sail” date was essential. Quartzelec ensured the necessary manpower was available for a continuous 24 hour period over 5 days to ensure that this tight deadline was achieved.
